Carlos Santana, Ramon Ayala, Willie Nelson and other artists are part of the Latino cast that sings "Yes we can", a tribute to the immigrants in the U.S., including a benefit album.
The song is part of "Project of Love / Love Project", an album that recalls the union Cesar Chavez, who was a familiar figure among the U.S. Latino community, announced today the Hermes Music Foundation, which sponsors the project.
"Yes we can" will be launched on May 31, while the disc will be available in September or October, the benefits will go to the foundation and driving force of Dolores Huerta, activist close to Chavez.
The title is a phrase coined by Chavez, commonly used in meetings and demonstrations of the U.S. Latino community, fighting for rights and for obtaining a comprehensive immigration reform. |

Raleigh, NC - The home state of Americans For Legal Immigration PAC's (ALIPAC) President William Gheen has joined the rapidly growing list of states that are rushing to follow Arizona's lead of cracking down on illegal immigration with state laws.
North Carolina now becomes the 18th state that ALIPAC has documented moving forward with a version of Arizona's controversial, yet popular immigration law. Numerous scientific and certified polls indicate 60-81% public support for local police enforcing immigration law as the Arizona bill does.
NC's Senate Joint Resolution (SJ 1349), filed by NC State Senator Don East (R-Surry), and would allow a version of Arizona's immigration bill (SB 1070) to be filed during the short session of the NC Legislature this year. This resolution has 12 sponsors already and room for more lawmakers to add their names. The current list of states following Arizona's lead on immigration enforcement include ARKANSAS, IDAHO, INDIANA, MARYLAND, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEBRASKA, NEVADA, NEW JERSEY, NORTH CAROLINA, OHIO, OKLAHOMA, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA, TEXAS, UTAH. |

As the author of H Res 615, a resolution calling on Members of Congress to enroll in the public Health Care plan, I have an important update.
Due to an overwhelming response from Americans across the country to my office, the health bill recently signed into law will indeed require members of Congress to abandon their federal health benefits and enroll in the newly created exchanges. While those of us who supported this important requirement have won the first round, we have not won the war. There is a move afoot to “fix” the language of this provision.
That's why it is important for me to communicate with you and provide you with information as it is available to me. |

Five protestors, including four illegal aliens, dressed in caps and gowns staged a sit-in at Senator John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) Tucson office last week. This latest move by amnesty proponents was done to demand that McCain support the DREAM Act, legislation that would grant amnesty for certain illegal aliens under the age of 35. (The New York Times, May 17, 2010). McCain has cosponsored this bill in years past, but this year he has not. (See S.729). The activists, who are not students and only one of whom is even an Arizona resident, launched the sit-in around noon, while about 50 supporters chanted and cheered from outside. Four of the protestors were arrested on misdemeanor trespassing charges when they refused to leave the office after closing. Upon their arrest law enforcement learned that that three of protesters are in the country illegally. (Arizona Daily Star, May 18, 2010). The illegal aliens, 25-year-old Lizbeth Mateo, who came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 14 and lives in California; Mohammad Abdollahi, a 24-year-old Michigan resident from Iran; and Yahaira Carrillo from Mexico, who now lives in Kansas City, Mo., are expected to face deportation proceedings. (Id.). Tania Unzueta, 26, from Los Angeles, fled the protest in order to avoid arrest. |

Federal Reserve aiding Illegals to transfer wealth out of United States while Mexico's Calderon scolds Arizona while mooching from U.S. Taxpayers, say critics. Mexico's verbose President, Felipe Calderon, is the largest contributor of illegal aliens living and working in the United States today. While no one knows exactly how many Mexicans reside in this country illegally, the advocates of "open borders" claim the number of illegal Mexican aliens in The U.S. between 10 and 15 million. Yet, conservatives put the number illegal aliens living in the U.S. at 25 to 30 million. While visiting the U.S. this week, the head of Mexico's corrupt government slammed Arizona for passing its immigration enforcement law. Calderon, standing right next to President Barack Obama, blasted Arizona as if he were the President of the United States. But instead of Obama telling Calderon to "cool his jets," Mr. Apologist joined Calderon in denigrating Arizonians. |
